Computers: not landfill compatible.
Electronics don’t belong in the trash. They’re full of toxic components: cadmium, beryllium, brominated flame retardants — all deadly contaminants that threaten environmental and public health.
It’s called eWaste, and it’s a huge problem. It’s why we brought computer recycling to downtown Boulder. We’re proud partners with EcoCycle‘s Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM), a respected Boulder recycling outfit with a solid ecological track record. They responsibly recycle the computer, keeping toxic components from ending up in our environment.
We’re the only CHaRM dropoff in downtown Boulder. We work with EcoCycle to provide this service to downtown residents and businesses because we want to make sure these dangerous chemicals stay out of the water supply. CHaRM does all of its recycling in the United States. Recycling these things properly costs money. That’s why they charge us money to dispose of these materials. If you want to make sure the recycling is done responsibly, it costs money (for now, anyway).
Your data is secure. We’ll securely wipe your data from your hard drive before the computer is recycled or repurposed, meaning you can rest assured your private information is safe.
Stop by anytime. We’ll process your computers and make sure they’re recycled responsibly.
