DC Jack Repair

DC Jack Repair | Computer Repair | Power JackIt’s a design flaw in most PC laptops.  Over time, the power adapter on a laptop will begin to damage the DC jack on the computer.  Eventually, the soldering points that connect the DC jack to the motherboard break.  This results in a spotty connection providing power to the computer.

How do you know if your computer needs a DC jack repair?  Here are a few signs:

  • Your power jack has been requiring a wiggle in order to work properly
  • The computer’s battery does not charge when the computer is plugged into power
  • You’ve tried different power cords, but they do not make the problem go away

Rest assured that your data is safe.  A failed DC jack does not effect the performance of a computer unless the power cuts while the computer is running.  If the power does cut often while the computer is running Windows, it may damage the function of the operating system.  If this happens, we can repair the operating system fault here in the shop as well.
